What is public finance?
Public finance, or municipal finance, relates to the revenues, expenditures, and financial policies of governments and government agencies. Many members of Women in Public Finance are professionals in the municipal securities industry. The "muni" industry raises and manages money for capital projects that provide social and economic benefits to communities.

What are some careers in public finance?
Government public finance careers include roles in accounting, budgeting, tax, treasury, debt management, and others. In the muni bond industry, private sector roles often support government agencies and non-profits to issue bonds and manage their debt. Roles include attorneys, financial advisors, investment bankers, rating agency analysts, bond insurers, and trust officers, among many others.
What sectors can I work in?
There are opportunities to work for or work with state and local governments, school districts and universities, transportation agencies, housing, municipal water and power utilities, renewable energy, non-profit healthcare, non-profits, and others.
